KIA Niro, The right size and range for everyday commute in LA

This week ride at Garage LA (by Ricardo Rodriguez-Long)

Owning an electric vehicle has become increasingly popular in recent years due to the many benefits it provides. But first, you have to choose the right car and make sure you can recharge it quickly. To make this transition, you must ensure you have your charging system at home. This is how you will make the most of owning a KIA Niro EV.

The KIA Niro EV is an all-electric car powered by a 64 kWh lithium-ion battery pack consisting of 288 cells. This powertrain produces a total of 201 horsepower and 291 pound-feet of torque, which is more than enough for brisk acceleration. The driving range of the Niro EV is an impressive 239 miles, and the charging time is fast, with a full charge taking only nine hours on a 240V outlet and assuming that you entirely run out of electricity.

The average person drives around 40-50 miles a day, so it is unlikely that you will run out of electricity. Just like your phone or laptop, you need to adapt to connecting your KIA Niro EV to a charging outlet every night. With just 30-40 minutes of charging time, you can have the Niro EV ready to go again for another 40-50 miles the next day. If you are planning a long road trip, you can look at the different charging stations along your route and plan accordingly. These charging stations are easy to find using the KIA Niro EV mobile app or the touch screen inside the car.

I like the interior of the Niro. The design is modern and straightforward, creating a calming feeling on the road. I tested one with a white interior, and it looked great. The controls are easy to use, and the navigation system is easy to use. Overall I had nothing to complain or say about the Niro’s interior.

The exterior is sharp, and I received many thumps up during my test drive. KIA designers have done a great job again. There is a panel in the rear, though, behind the rear door, which is a bit controversial. I like it and it reminded me of the Audi R8 sports car. For some people, this panel being of another color is a bit of a put-off. Regardless the stance and proportions are right.

The KIA Niro EV price Starts at around $39,000. The unit I tested was a fully loaded premium car that had a sticker of almost $47,000. I recommend getting the base version, which already has all you need.

This stylish SUV has room for five and offers several features to make it an attractive option for city drivers. It’s efficient electric engine ensures low emissions and a quiet ride, while its advanced safety features provide a secure and comfortable journey. Additionally, the EV Niro is equipped with all the modern tech features and connectivity (such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto) that make it worthy of consideration for today’s on-the-go professionals.
